Out with the Old, In with the New!

I must say, moving is an experience that I hope I don’t have to live through again for at least another five years!You always realize how much more stuff you have than you think  you do when you’re trying to move it from one place to another.

I actually thought that i could have everything moved out of my apartment in one day, and then take one more day to clean out my old apartment and be done with it.  Boy was I wrong! It took four trips in the PhillyCarShare pickup truck (Which came to a grand total of $15.38 by the way!!)  and a few days worth of moving stuff in my good ole Taurus and Moody’s Impala before we were finished enough to actually sleep over at the new house.

There are still some things left at the old apartment that I have to bring over before this week is out. I still haven’t even told the office at my old apartment building that I was moving, I kinda just left. You would think they would have at least put a note on my door because of the lack of rent being paid, but they are so irresponsible, it’s as it they haven’t noticed! I went over there yesterday to

 get some things, and there was a letter in my door. I figured they realized that I moved and wanted to know what my intentions are. Alas, the letter in my door was a letter asking me if I wanted to renew my lease with them, and letting me know the rent would be going up if I decided to renew. There is one month left on my lease there, and I have had enough of their mess and decided to leave early. I think that was just hilarious! Like, I just moved out, and they’re asking me if I want to renew? They have got to be kidding.

Right now we’re settling in the new diggs, getting used to the house noises, and trying to figure out how to use the electronic thermostat. I never used one of those before, and I feel like I need the manual or something! I wasn’t able to adjust the heat in my old apartment, and before that I have only had the one where you just slide the little dial to the temperature you want. This thing is all fancy and shit. I do enjoy having  a corner house because it’s bigger, but the street noise can get loud sometimes. I suppose in time I’ll

learn to block it out :)

Overall, I love the house and look forward to decorating it and choosing items to place in it. I have a few ideas, however I am open to any suggestions anyone may have, as I am hardly a decorator myself. I just kinda pick things that I like, things that fit, and things I can afford. Then just try to make it all work together.

I definitely have to purchase a few rugs, probably at least 4 or 5 of them. Those hardwood floors are cold as ice in the morning! I need to put one rug under my bed, one in the living room, possibly one in the dining room, and one in my daughter’s room. Not necessarily room size, but accent rugs in the bedrooms. I have been shopping for a living room rug for months, even in my old apartment. The one I had just wasn’t working for me anymore. I want something kinda artsy, with a lot of color for the living room, something like this. Kinda.

I hate this table! It is just too much work to keep clean, if there aren't fingerprints all over it, there's a layer of dust on it...

  I promised you guys pics of the new house, and I am delivering today! I still haven’t put any of my art  up on the walls and we’re still unpacking the upstairs, but I have some pics of downstairs to share.

You can click the pictures to enlarge them if you like!

Oh yes, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    Hi Bella,

    Very nice place! About those cords. I don’t know how to hide them but you can make them look better. You can go to a electronics store and ask for cord or stereo tubing. I suppose it comes in different colors. Basically its a tube that is split in the middle. You can fit cords in it and then attach the tube to the wall.

    This is what it looks like;
