Let’s talk Mascara Pt. 2

L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara

L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara

I saw a commercial for a new mascara and it actually made me want to try it! Now, I’ve been pretty loyal to my Lash Blast, (BTW, I still have one left over from December’s giveaway. If you want it email me your mailing address to bella@bellainthecity.com. The first person who e mails me will get it.)

It always amazes me how the models in mascara commercials obviously have on false lashes. Like, are you supposed to see how the product really works if you show it to me over falsies? I don’t get it.

Speaking of falsies, I have been seeing so many false lashes on girls here in Philly that I really want to try it for myself! I mean, it seems like everyone has them. I’m scared they’ll look too fake or just look like I’m doing too much. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll give it a try.

I seem to have gotten a little off track here! Okay, this post is supposed to be about mascara, not falsies! LOL! Seriously though, the mascara I came across and want to try is called L’Oreal Double Extension Beauty Tubes Mascara. The product comes with 2 formulas meant to be applied on top of each other. The first formula goes on white and extends the lashes, while the colored formula defines the lashes. It retails for $10.99, but is now on SALEat CVS.com for $8.79. Here’s what L’Oreal says on it’s website about the product:

Science Behind the Beauty

Unlike traditional mascaras that paint or coat your lashes with mascara formula, Double Extend Beauty Tubes mascara forms lash-extending tubes that firmly attach to the tip of your lashes. These tubes visibly lengthen your lashes up to 80%, and provide excellent wear, as they will not run, smudge, clump or flake all day. The beauty tubes remove easily from lashes with just water – no makeup remover or rubbing necessary. The ultra-nourishing patented base coat with Ceramide R nourishes lashes, and provides a unique layer of protection that prepares lashes for Beauty Tubes.

Mascara tubes is actually not a new concept. A company called Blinc cosmetics actually pioneered the technology for this type of mascara over 10 years ago, but their product is very expensive at $25 a pop. Their Kiss Me Mascara is touted as the “Original” water resistant tube technology on the market. This is what the company says about it’s product on their website:

Kiss Me Mascara is the original mascara invented to form tiny water-resistant “tubes” around your lashes rather than painting them like conventional mascaras. Once applied, the tubes bind to your lashes and cannot run, smudge, clump, or flake, even if you cry or rub your eyes.

Kiss Me Mascara will add both volume and length to give you a radiant natural look that lasts all day. Only when you are ready for removal, the tubes will effortlessly slide off your lashes into your hand without the use of a harsh makeup remover.

All it takes is the combination of lots of warm water and gentle pressure, from your fingertips, a washcloth or water pressure (i.e. shower) and the tubes will slide off your lashes effortlessly. Upon removal you will actually see the tiny tubes in your hand!

Kiss Me Mascara has been clinically tested to be non-irritating making it ideal for sensitive eyes, contact lens wearers, and active people in search of a mascara whose look, hold and ease of removal is without compromise.

I’m sure it would be very interesting to see how the two stack up against each other, but due to my fiscal situation I just cannot go spending upwards of $25 on mascara right now! Especially since I already have a few tubes at home. I will however, be picking up the L’Oreal one. As before, my opinions will find their way to the comment thread. Hope you had a great Saturday!

I love mascara too! My lashes are already pretty long and thick. I wear mascara to draw some extra attention to them. I use Fantastic Lash by CG. I love it! I can’t see paying a whole lot for mascara either. I want to try false ones, but I’m not coordinated enough to put them on. I know there are a few nail shops that will do individuals for a reasonable price. Maybe I’ll do that…

Tami, I always have a Great Lash in my makeup bag..it’s classic! I’m not sure what Ulta is, but I’m sure there’s one somewhere around here.

Alix, I’ve never tried that one. I’ve heard of the nail shops that do the individual ones, and also the hair salons do it here. I think it’s like $20-$25 for the individual ones or something like that. I have a white party to go to soon, maybe I’ll get them done for that!

I still haven’t gotten around to picking up this mascara! I did go to M.A.C. though, and got some stuff from their Hello Kitty collection. I love it!

Ok, I finally picked up this mascara, the L’oreal one. I really liked it when I put it on, I could see the length and people actually asked me if I had on false lashes! The problem came when it was time for it to come off. It’s not as easy as it says on the packaging! I had to rinse my eyes like 20 times before it was all off! Other than being difficult to remove, I love this mascara. I’m going to rotate it between my Lash Blast. Oh, and Cover Girl released a new mascara called Lash Blast Luxe. It’s pretty much the same as Lash Blast, just with a hint of shimmer. I have to try that one!
